What Alternative is a concept in sharing and discussing ideas and concepts in alternative technology for energy production and conservation. The customer wanted a site where people could visit and see videos from people who have experimented in alternative technologies such as solar thermal, wind turbines. He wanted the site to generate discussion, interest and information with people sharing ideas and new theories on alternative technologies. Solvd provided a complex site where users could subscribe to a forum module where they can discuss and share information with other subscribers on different technology topics.

The forum enables all discussions and replies to be moderated first by the customer before being published on the site forum. The site has a Video module where the customer can upload and publish subscriber’s videos on the site under different technological categories. The Home page has an image slide up module with different images of technologies such as wind turbines and Solar PV.

Included on the site is a blog module where the customer can publish the latest information he has gained on alternative technologies as well as interesting news and editorial pages where he can publish articles at any time for visitors to read. The website provided a number of technical challenges such as the uploading and running of videos under different categories and the customer was extremely pleased with the end result.
