Web Application Design
Solvd have extensive experience in designing and building both browser, desktop and smartphone based applications, otherwise known as web applications (or apps).
Browser based web applications
The application is accessed through a web browser and most of the application’s functionality is based on the web server. These can sometimes be referred to as “thin client” applications. These applications have a wide reach and have the advantage of being accessed from anywhere on the internet and are easily deployed (changes usually only have to be made on the web server). If your application is public facing, you need to get it noticed. This is where it’s useful to have search engines indexing the application’s content: the application needs to be optimised so that content is in a form recognised by search engines such as Google and Bing. Our Breeze website platform is designed to host the most complex web applications securely and responsively.
Desktop based web applications
The application is internet enabled (such as online video games, Apple’s iTunes, sidebar widgets for (Windows Vista or Windows 7) or an email client such as Microsoft Outlook). This type of application (otherwise known as a rich client or sometimes a smart client) has the benefit that it can run without an internet connection (i.e. offline) and it can interact with local hardware and software, such as printers. An additional benefit is the application is more responsive to the user, as there is no round trip to the server when processing user input.
