Solvd provide database services to nearly all our customers, whether via our database driven CMS system breeze or bespoke databases that we have created for specific customers.
Solvd can provide a fully managed service to clients to allow them to relax in the knowledge that their database is being securely held and monitored by an expert team with no need for their intervention.
Database Hosting
Solvd can host your SQL database in secure, twin location data centres across the south coast with nightly backup between them ensuring maximum security and minimum downtime. Solvd can work with you to create custom backup solutions and ensure that your data is always available and consistent. This is a fully managed service but please contact us if you would like to discuss other arrangements.
SQL Server Database Migration
Solvd can arrange and perform database migration from other non-Microsoft databases or older versions of MS SQL to the most current versions and host these online for you via our SQL Server database hosting in one of our two south coast data centre locations. If you prefer to keep your data in-house we can also upgrade and migrate your databases on site. This can be performed as a service out of normal business hours to minimise your companies downtime during a migration or update exercise.
The normal procedure for a database migration is as follows:
- Analyse the current situation, number of users, tables, storage etc
- Advise on a migration strategy - to minimise the impact of the change, formulate backup and back-out plans
- Identify and remove redundant data - so the new database only contains what it needs to
- Backup existing system - to increase confidence & security
- Create new storage design and database
- Migrate data from old to new
- Generate exception reports and fix
- Test new database
- Update any systems that interface to the database
- Test again
- De-commission the old database
Other SQL server database services include health checks, performance tuning, monitoring and stored procedure creation or changes.
